Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatment in Trivandrum

Rejuvenating Panchakarma Treatment

Panchakarma is a highly effective cleansing or purification therapy practised in Ayurvedic medicine. As the word Panchakarma implies, the therapy involves five actions or procedures to purify the body, restoring the balance of the patient’s body, mind and spirit. Leelajani Ayur Care follows the 5000-year old tradition of Ayurveda in Panchakarma treatment and all other Ayurvedic therapies. Being one of the leading Ayurveda hospitals which offer Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatment in Trivandrum, Leelajani Ayur Care provides every Ayurvedic therapy in its best desirable way that suits the patient’s health condition. Here we suggest Panchakarma treatment as a preventive measure to avoid several types of physical discomforts and to boost immunity.

Panchakarma in its Traditional Ayurvedic Ways

Ayurvedic practitioners prescribe Panchakarma treatment equally for both the diseased and healthy alike as it is a detoxification treatment to cleanse the body and to restore the immune system, resulting in the balance of the tri-doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The five karmas or procedures involved in Panchakarma treatment are Vamanam, Virechanam, Vasthi, Nasyam, and Rakthamoksham, and these therapies are practised considering the individual’s health condition and dosha imbalance. The repeated application of warm medicinal oil and heat therapy in very sophisticated ways facilitates deep cleansing, which results in the complete removal of toxins from the human body.

Leelajani Ayur Care Panchakarma Procedures

The whole process of Panchakarma consists of mainly three steps. Poorva karma also known as Shamana therapy is a kind of supportive procedure that includes preparative measures administered before the main therapy to make the person get the best out of the main treatment. Poorvakarma involves Snehan (oleation) and Swedana (fomentation) to remove accumulated waste and toxins from the body, thus preparing the patient for the main therapy.

Pradhan Karma or the main procedure is given after the completion of Poorvakarma. This step is followed depending upon the presence of waste in the body. While a high level of upper respiratory tract waste demands Vamana, a lower gastro accumulation of waste requires Virechana (medicated purgation) therapy. Apart from this, there are certain other therapies like Snehapanam-intake of medicated ghee on an empty stomach; Nasyam- herbal oil administered through the nose; Njavarakizhi; Dhara- application of lukewarm medicated oil on the body; Pizhichil; Shenavasthi- herbal enema; Sirovasthi; Tharpanam etc are administered as part of the Panchakarma Treatment.

Paschat Karma or the post-therapy is the dietary regimen followed in Panchakarma treatment to restore the body’s digestive capacity to its normal state.

Five Karmas/Actions in Panchakarma Treatment

At Leelajani Ayur Care, we provide customized Panchakarma treatment, considering the physical type and condition of the tri-doshas. Following are the five therapies performed mainly during a Panchakarma series. The treatments will be performed mainly by two expert Ayurvedic therapists together. During the course of one-day treatment, some of these therapies will be linked together and administered depending on the body type.

Vamana

Vamana is medicine induced vomiting or emesis performed to purify the stomach and to remove the vitiated Kapha dosha from the patient’s body. This well-monitored emesis is highly effective for patients who are suffering from several diseases including psoriasis, asthma etc.

Virechana

Virechana or the medicated purgation therapy is prescribed for healing Pitta aggravated diseases such as skin disorders, rheumatic disorders, diabetes, ulcers, and more. In this treatment procedure, specific Ayurvedic medicines are given to eliminate toxins from the intestines. Oleation and fomentation therapies are performed as part of Virechana also.

Vasti

Basti, another important treatment in Panchkarma is a kind of therapeutic enema done to cure diseases caused by the vitiation of Vata dosha. Vasti treatment is performed to cure diseases such as gastric problems, arthritis, and paralysis. The three types of Vasti treatment are Sneha Vasti, Kashaya Vasti, and Uthara Vasti. In Uthara Vasti, medicated enema is administered the reproductive organs; hence this therapy is highly recommended for infertility issues, urinary disorders, impotency etc.

Nasyam

Nasyam is a type of nasal medication therapy performed to cure diseases connected with the nose, thorax, head, and respiratory organs. In this treatment, medicated oil is administered through nostrils. As the nasal passage opens easy access to the head, Nasya is recommended as the most effective therapy for getting the full potency of the medicine prescribed. Nasya therapy is best prescribed for allergy conditions, sinusitis, respiratory problems, and can improve your vision and enhance skin complexion.

Rakthamoksha

Rakthamoksha is one among the five karmas in Panchakarma treatment. Using blood-letting, this therapy removes the vitiated elements from blood, thus purifying the blood. This therapy is very beneficial to treat skin diseases.
